Fall 40 Days for Life to begin

Wednesday, September 25, 2019 - Updated: 9:48 am

A Mass to kick off the fall 40 Days for Life campaign is set for Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. at Epiphany Church in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood. The celebrant will be Father Chris Donley.

Following Mass, he will lead a procession with the Blessed Sacrament from the church to the Planned Parenthood office on Liberty Avenue for a short time of prayer on the sidewalk. The 40-day prayer vigil will begin the following morning at 7 a.m.

The 40 Days for Life is set for Sept. 25-Nov. 3 outside the abortion center in Downtown Pittsburgh. The campaign is designed to maintain a peaceful, public prayer vigil from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The pro-life campaign is held twice a year — during Lent and in the fall.

Groups from local houses of worship commit to provide a witness to the injustice of abortion to passers-by, clinic workers and abortion-bound clients. The campaign is credited with saving more than 16,000 children nationwide.
