CHAPLAINS

RESIGNATION/PAROCHIAL VICAR-SENIOR
PRIEST

At his request, the resignation of the Rev. Thaddeus S.
Maida as pastor of St. Teresa of Avila Parish,
Perrysville, has been accepted effective Monday, June
11, 2001. At the same time, Father Maida has been
appointed parochial vicar with the designation of senior
priest at Holy Child Parish, Bridgeville.

SABBATICAL/REPLACEMENT MINISTRY
At his request, the Rev. John W. Rebel is relieved of his
responsibilities as pastor of St. Kilian Parish, Mars, and
granted permission to begin a sabbatical as part of the
diocesan continuing education and formation program
for priests, effective the second semester of the
2001-2002 school year. In the meantime, Father Rebel
is appointed to Replacement Ministry in the Diocese of
Pittsburgh as needed.

SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS
The Rev. Kevin J. Dominik is relieved of his
responsibilities as vice rector and director of Spiritual
Formation of St. Paul Seminary and director of the
Department of Clergy and Ministerial Formation, in
order to accept the invitation on the part of St. Vincent
Seminary to assume responsibilities as dean of
students at St. Vincent Seminary, Latrobe, effective
Monday, July 2, 2001.

The Rev. Daniel W. Whalen from graduate studies,
North American College, Rome, to master of
ceremonies to the diocesan bishop and assistant
director of the Office for Worship in the Secretariat for
Pastoral Life, with residence at the Bishop's House,
effective Friday, July 13, 2001.

The Rev. James A. Wehner, from completion of
graduate studies in Rome, to vice rector and director of
spiritual formation of St. Paul Seminary, director of the
Department of Clergy and Ministerial Formation, and
additional duties in the Office for Evangelization and
Christian Initiation with residence at St. Paul Seminary,
effective Monday, July 2, 2001.

RELIEVED OF RESPONSIBILITIES
At his request, the Rev. George T. DeVille is relieved of
his responsibilities as part-time chaplain to the
Catholic patients and staff at Mayview State Hospital,
effective Monday, June 11, 2001. Father DeVille
maintains his responsibilities as pastor at Holy Rosary
Parish, Muse.

At his request, the Rev. Thomas J. Kram is relieved of
his responsibilities as chaplain to the Sisters of St.
Francis of the Providence of God Motherhouse,
Whitehall, effective Thursday, July 5, 2001, and granted
permission to take up residence at Nativity Parish,
South Park. Father Kram maintains his responsibilities
as vicar for Retired Clergy of the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

RESIGNATIONS/RETIREMENTS
In accordance with the provisions of the Priest
Personnel Policy, and at his request, the resignation of
the Rev. Daniel B. Dixon as chaplain to the residents
and staff at St. Joseph House of Hospitality has been
accepted effective Monday, May 14, 2001. At the same
time, Father Dixon has been granted permission to
begin retirement.

In accordance with the provisions of Canon 538.1, and
at his request, the resignation of the Rev. Hugh M.
Gloninger as pastor of St. Paul Parish, Butler, has been
accepted effective Monday, June 11, 2001. At the same
time, Father Gloninger has been given permission to
begin retirement and take up residence at St. John
Vianney Manor.

In accordance with the provisions of the Priest
Personnel Policy, and at his request, the resignation of
the Rev. R. Donald Jones as parochial vicar at St.
Michael Parish, Elizabeth, has been accepted effective
Monday, June 11, 2001. At the same time, Father
Jones has been granted permission to begin
retirement. At this time his plans for a retirement
residence are incomplete.

DEACON RESIGNATION
In accordance with the provisions of the Deacon
Personnel Policy, and at his request, the resignation of
Robert J. Becker, deacon, from parish-based ministry
at St. Albert the Great Parish, Baldwin, has been
accepted effective Tuesday, May 15, 2001.

RESIDENCES
The Rev. Joseph C. Beck from residence, St. Bede
Parish, Point Breeze, to residence, St. Rosalia Parish,
Greenfield, effective Monday, June 11, 2001. Father
Beck maintains his responsibility as chaplain to
Nursing Home Ministry.

The Rev. Louis L. DeNinno from residence, St.
Catherine of Siena Parish, Beechview, to residence,
Holy Wisdom Parish, North Side, effective Tuesday, May
29, 2001. Father DeNinno maintains his
responsibilities as a defender of the bond in the
Diocesan Tribunal.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE
At his request, the Rev. Nicholas A. Spirko has been
relieved of his responsibilities as parochial vicar at Holy
Child Parish, Bridgeville, and has been granted
permission to begin a leave of absence for reason of
health, effective Wednesday, June 20, 2001.
