Mass to end year of prayer and fasting

Thursday, August 08, 2019 - Updated: 2:38 pm

A Mass of Healing will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 15, the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at 6 p.m. at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood.

This liturgy brings to a conclusion the year of prayer and fasting that Bishop David Zubik asked all clergy to engage in for the healing of victims of child sexual abuse. Bishop Zubik will be unable to be at the cathedral while he recuperates from back surgery, so Auxiliary Bishop William Waltersheid will preside. All clergy are invited to concelebrate the Mass, and everyone is welcome to attend.
