The Pittsburgh Catholic will mark its 175th anniversary in the March 15, 2019, issue, and readers are invited to “gift” the newspaper with their thoughts and remembrances.
We’re interested in knowing how the Pittsburgh Catholic has made an impact on your life and the lives of others in southwestern Pennsylvania and beyond. We will share your comments in the special supplement planned for that issue of the paper.
Has “Your Catholic community newspaper”:
• Taught you something about the Catholic faith, such as through Father Charles Bober’s articles?
• Helped deepen your relationship with Jesus and his church?
• Been a tool for evangelization, perhaps when you shared articles with a loved one?
• Challenged you with provocative commentaries from a bishop, Msgr. Charles Owen Rice or another columnist?
Perhaps you regularly share your copy of the Pittsburgh Catholic with a relative or neighbor. We like to know when our publications enrich someone’s life.
Did you know that the Pittsburgh Catholic used to be sold by street vendors? Maybe you were one of them. Let us know.
Our goal now and always has been to inform, inspire, evangelize and instruct the Catholic faithful of our diocese. With the advent of websites and social media, the Pittsburgh Catholic has become one of the most active and vibrant Catholic media outlets.
More than 9,000 issues of the Pittsburgh Catholic have been published since Bishop Michael O’Connor began it in 1844, less than a year after the Diocese of Pittsburgh was formed. It’s a privilege for me and our entire staff to serve you and be part of the history of this award-winning, cutting-edge newspaper.
To submit your written thoughts (250 words maximum), you can use e-mail (email@example.com), postal mail (111 Blvd. of the Allies, Suite 200, Pittsburgh PA 15222) or respond through Facebook or Twitter. And be sure to include your name and parish.
Thank you for taking the time to help us mark a major milestone for the Pittsburgh Catholic.
