Come Back to Me

Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood is holding a Lenten renewal titled “Come Back to Me with All Your Heart” on Tuesdays during March following the 6:30 p.m. Mass in the parish’s St. Augustine Church. The program takes participants through the sacraments as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults candidates learn them. “Why Must He Die”

A performance of the musical drama “Why Must He Die?” has been rescheduled at Holy Sepulcher Parish in Glade Mills for Wednesday, March 10, at 7 p.m.

Five Prayers God Always Answers

St. Gerard Majella Parish in Penn Hills will host a talk by Capuchin Father Scott Seethaler titled “The Five Prayers God Always Answers” on Thursday, March 11, at 7 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. For information, call 412-793-3333.

Crushed grapes wine event

Sister’s Place will sponsor a “Crushed Grapes” wine-tasting event on Thursday, March 11, in the upper lobby of the USX Steel Building on Grant Street in Downtown Pittsburgh. The event includes wine tasting, a sampling of foods and beverages from various vendors, and a silent auction. Cost is $60 in advance or $70 at the door. All proceeds benefit Sister’s Place, a nonprofit organization that provides housing and other services to single mothers and their children. Day of recollection

The Christian Mothers of St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Center Township will host a day of recollection on Tuesday, March 16, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Capuchin Father Angelus Shaughnessy will lead the program, which will include conferences, devotions, Mass and more. Musical production

The youth ministry of St. Sebastian Parish in Ross Township will perform the musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” on Friday and Saturday, March 19 and 20, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 21, at 2 and 7 p.m., in the parish’s Getty Hall. A free-will offering will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the diocesan Chimbote mission.

Health Ministry program

A health ministry workshop will be held on Saturday, March 20, from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Room 2190 on the campus of UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood. The workshop will examine how to promote healthy living, what is health ministry, team building and more. Cost is $15. For information, call 412-232-5815.

Food sales and more

• A special takeout sale of haluski, potato soup and pasta fagiole will be held in the social hall of Resurrection Parish in West Mifflin on Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost is $6 a quart. In addition, there will be a bake sale, used book sale and flea market.

• Good Samaritan Parish in Ambridge will sponsor an Easter bake sale on Saturday and Sunday, March 27 and 28, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Featured will be nut, poppyseed, apricot and Lekvar rolls at $11 each, or $6 for half-rolls, and 1 1/2-pound loaf of plain or anise Easter bread. Easter Bunny Appearances

• The Franciscan Child Day Care Center will host an indoor Easter egg hunt and breakfast with the Easter bunny on Sunday, March 20, at the center, located at 1401 Hamilton Road in Castle Shannon. Seating times are 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Admission is $2 for children and $5 for adults. For reservations, call 412-882-5085 by Friday, March 12.

• St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Perrysville will sponsor an Easter bunny lunch on Saturday, March 27, from noon-2 p.m., with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. The event includes lunch, treat bags, entertainment, photos with the Easter bunny and more. Cost is $5 per person, and free for children under 2. Proceeds benefit Capuchin Father Scott Seethaler’s hospital in Oaxaca, Mexico. To register, call 412-366-0723.

Make Us Believers

A musical opera on the passion of Jesus titled “Make Us Believers” will be presented at St. Titus Parish in Aliquippa on Sunday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. The program is free, with a free-will offering accepted. A light reception will follow the performance.

We Are Witnesses

St. Benedict the Abbot Parish in Peters Township will present the musical opera “We Are Witnesses” on Friday, March 26, at 7:45 p.m., and Saturday, March 27, at 7 p.m. Written by Father Sam Esposito, the opera is a reflection on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
