Calix is an association of Catholic alcoholics who meet to enhance their spiritual growth. Monday June 29, 2009 Basketball Camps • St. Joseph High School will host a summer basketball camp for girls in grades 3-8, from July 27-30 on school grounds, 800 Montana Ave., Natrona Heights. The camp will be conducted by April McDivitt-Foster, former Indiana Miss Basketball, starting point guard in two Final Fours and four Sweet 16s for the University of Tennessee, and she played for three WNBA teams. Discounts are offered for team registration. • Serra Catholic High School is sponsoring a skills and fundamental basketball camp for boys and girls entering grades 6-8 on the school campus, 200 Hershey Drive, McKeesport. The girls camp is July 6-9, and the boys camp is July 13-17. Cost is $70. To register, call 412-751-2020. Football camp Bishop Canevin’s youth summer football camp for boys ages 8-13 will be held from 9 a.m.-noon July 27-29 on the school campus, 2700 Morange Road, Pittsburgh’s Oakwood neighborhood. Peace Camp Children ages 6-12 are invited to participate in a summer Peace Camp from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 27-31 at the Father Ryan Arts Center, 420 Chartiers Ave., McKees Rocks. Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph, in partnership with the Felician sisters, the camp is designed to promote peace and understanding, and non-violent conflict resolution skills in school and at home. Novena A novena in preparation for the solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be prayed at the Carmelite Monastery in Latrobe from July 8-16 in conjunction with the 7 a.m. Mass (8 a.m. Sunday). Intentions can be sent to the Carmelite Nuns, 5206 Center Drive, Latrobe, Pa. 15650. A Mass will be celebrated in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Wednesday, July 15, at 7 p.m. Brown scapulars will be distributed after Mass. Festival St. Martin de Porres will host a festival from 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 10-11, in the parking lot, 704 Market St., McKeesport. Featuring bingo, face painting, games, caricature artist and more. Food will include funnel cakes, bake sale, homemade pierogies, haluski, hot sausage, stuffed cabbage, cheese steak and more. Bingo nightly. Entertainment includes DJ Bob Mayes on Friday, and the Mikey D Band on Saturday. Donations needed Donations of new or gently-used dresses for brides, mother of the bride and flower girl/first Communion dresses are needed for a bridal and formal dress sale July 31-Aug. 2 at The Mall at Robinson in Robinson Township.
