A summer reading group will meet every Monday for six weeks, starting July 2, at St. Raphael Parish in Pittsburgh’s Morningside/Stanton Heights neighborhood to discuss select writings from Philokalia, a compilation of texts on prayer, written by desert monks. • Public is invited to Assumption Parish in Bellevue to pray a patriotic rosary Wednesday, July 4, following 8 a.m. Mass. Rosary will be prayed for the country and its leaders and, as each state is named, a Hail Mary will be prayed for people who live there. In addition, choir will sing a patriotic song between each decade, and a brief reading written by one of our country’s Founding Fathers will be read.
• The ChristLife Spirit Refill team of St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Perrysville welcomes the public to pray a patriotic rosary Wednesday, July 4, following 9 a.m. Mass. Rosary will be prayed for consecration of our nation, and includes patriotic song and readings for each mystery, prayers for all levels of government and a Hail Mary prayed for each of the 50 states.
A novena in preparation for the solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be prayed at the Carmelite Monastery in Latrobe July 7-15 in conjunction with 7 a.m. Mass (8 a.m. Sunday). Intentions to be remembered in novena can be sent to Carmelite Monastery, 5206 Center Drive, Latrobe, PA 15650. On Sunday, July 15, a Mass in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be celebrated at 7 p.m., followed by distribution of brown scapulars.

Young adults are invited to a Theology on Tap gathering sponsored by the Oakland Young Adult Ministry on Monday, July 9, at Steel Cactus in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood. SPIRITUAL THERAPEUTIC RECOVERY
St. Catherine of Sweden Parish in Hampton Township is starting its fourth run of The Spiritual Therapeutic Recovery Group, which provides counseling and support for family and friends of those suffering from addiction. Meetings are held Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. for 12 weeks, starting July 12. Group is guided by David Gentile, licensed psychologist with extensive experience in the field.
