Nationally-known singer, songwriter and storyteller Steve Angrisano will highlight “Go Make a Difference,” an April 30-May 2 renewal at Christ the Light of the World and St. Joseph parishes in Duquesne.

He will speak on “Evangelization: Encountering God (in your life),” April 30; “Living the Faith; Responding to the Call,” May 1; and “Missionary Discipleship: Go Make a Difference,” May 2. All sessions will begin at 7 p.m. at Holy Name Church of Christ the Light of the World, First Street and Kennedy Avenue.

Angrisano also will speak at all Masses the weekend of April 29-30.

Father Tom Lewandowski, pastor of Christ the Light of the World and St. Joseph, said the renewal will reflect the spirit of On Mission for The Church Alive! and call on the faithful to live out their Easter joy by evangelizing through various ministries. To be more effective disciples, not just in their parishes but out into the world.

“To be in the forefront and have God make an impact through the impact you can have,” he said.

Angrisano has been recognized as “undoubtedly one of the most effective and versatile ministry leaders in the church today,” according to his website. People of all ages have been touched by his messages of faith, hope and love. Angrisano has been featured at six World Youth Day events, a number of National Catholic Youth Conferences, and many other national and international events.

Father Lewandowski said the April 30 session will be specifically geared toward young people, adding, “We want to give the youth the knowledge that they matter, and they matter now.”

Debbie Walters has been instrumental in planning the renewal. She said the theme of “Go Make a Difference” stems from Angrisano’s popular song and reflects that “It is every single person’s mission to make a difference.”

The renewal is open to people from throughout the diocese. Youth groups are invited to the April 30 session.

Walters noted that visitors will experience the welcoming spirit of the parish and Angrisano’s unique gifts. “He will give them something that will enliven their spirit and renew their faith,” she said.
